The “Lasts”
As the holiday season wraps us in its warm embrace, I find myself reflecting on the beautiful moments shared with my kiddos. With our oldest daughter approaching 21 and our son charging through his senior year at warp speed, I had a moment this past week that stopped me in my tracks. While we never know what the future holds, there’s a good chance this is our last year with all three of our kiddos living under one roof. It took my breath away for a moment. Doug, being my constant voice of reason, reminded me that even if this is the case, it doesn’t mean they can’t come back for an overnight visit. To which I calmed myself down and started planning these overnight stays after they move out. Ha!
Whether or not they live in our home this time next year, this Christmas season does hold a special significance, as it's a precious chapter in our journey before they embark on new adventures.
Here’s a few tips on how we’re going to enjoy this with grace and not sadness:
Creating Lasting Memories: Every ornament hung on the tree, every laugh shared during festive gatherings — each moment is a brushstroke in the painting of our shared memories. Embracing the holiday spirit with my senior adds a layer of warmth to these cherished recollections.
Meaningful Gifts and Traditions: Exchanging thoughtful gifts and upholding beloved traditions take on a new significance during this senior year. The joy of giving is amplified, knowing that these moments will be woven into the tapestry of their high school memories.
Capturing the Essence of Togetherness: Amidst the hustle and bustle, there's a unique togetherness that defines this holiday season. Whether it's cozy evenings by the fireplace or the simple joy of sharing a meal, the essence lies in the quality time spent with my senior.
Reflecting on Growth: The holidays provide a perfect backdrop for reflection. It's a time to appreciate the growth, resilience, and accomplishments of my senior. Each twinkling light seems to echo the brilliance of their journey and the exciting path that lies ahead.
The Gift of Presence: In the midst of holiday planning and festivities, the greatest gift is the present — being fully present with my senior. These moments are the building blocks of a treasure trove of memories that will endure long after the tinsel is stored away.
As we savor the magic of the season, I'm reminded that the greatest joy comes from sharing it with the ones we love. Cheers to a holiday season filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of family bonds. May your celebrations be as beautiful as the memories you create! #HolidayJoy #SeniorYearMagic #FamilyTraditions
